March is Women's History Month and we want to celebrate all the amazing women in travel and hospitality that are special to our community. We asked our community to nominate a woman in the travel industry who has inspired those around them and the progression of travel and hospitality. Meet some leading ladies from pilots, to travel agents, to flight attendants!

Virgi is managing partner at Lux Voyage, a renowned travel concierge based in Philadelphia. Originally from the Dominican Republic, Virgi was raised in a family of hoteliers and food lovers. In 2015, after 12 years of practicing law in New York and Washington, D.C., she took the plunge to pursue her true passion in travel. Virgi has built Lux Voyage into a Latina-powered multimillion dollar business serving a select international clientele.

  • How do you want to be remembered as a woman in the travel industry making history?

    • VIRGI: I want to be an example for other women to be fearless in the pursuit of their passions. Your career doesn’t have to be a straight line and sometimes it takes a lot of trial and error to figure out what your life purpose is, but I promise you the journey is worth it and the result is the reward. For women in the travel industry specifically, I wish to be remembered as an example of authentic leadership and lead with passion, humility and honesty.

  • How has your nominee represented women in the travel industry?

  • SASKIA: She runs an all-women team comprised of Latina travel advisers who are generally under-represented in the travel industry.

Stella is a flight attendant traveling the world and taking you with her on her YouTube channel Fly With Stella. She’s proud to work for one of the largest airlines in the world and she’s always excited for her next adventure whether it’s a small town in the U.S. or a big city across the world. Her favorite thing to do when she lands in a new destination is to check out the local market. This gives her the opportunity to learn about the culture and sample new treats! Stella is based in Washington, D.C. where she lives with her husband and puppy Francis.

Betty is currently a private pilot and she loves to share her story with those who come in contact with her and inspire young women to become whatever they want in life, as long as they believe in themselves and trust the process.

    • How do you want to be remembered as a woman in the travel industry making history?

      • BETTY: I want to be remembered as a proud, hard working Mexican-American who never settled to take no for an answer. I knew I wanted to make it far in life as a kid so I applied myself in school, went to UC Berkeley on a full-ride and took advantage of the financial aid offered, and studied abroad twice. I studied abroad in Madrid, Spain and Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. Since then, I have traveled to 35 countries and counting, and just started my lash business where I will be able to travel and do lashes on the go.

  • How has your nominee represented women in the travel industry?

That was the main inspiration behind the creation of their channel. She has decided to take her love of inspiring others to travel a step further by creating her own travel business, Traveling With Kyra. In her spare time, she enjoys playing with her 7 month old Chiweenie, Bruno.

  • How has your nominee represented women in the travel industry?

  • MACKENZIE: She and her husband run a YouTube travel vlog. So often, Black content creators aren’t given the same opportunities for sponsorships and promotion as their white counterparts but Kyra and her husband have really given a voice to young Black travelers.

Samantha is a travel matchmaker and planner that helps busy couples, families, and groups plan their dream trips with VIP level service.

    • How do you want to be remembered as a woman in the travel industry making history?

      • SAMANTHA: Instead of staying home with the fear of the unknown, I want to be remembered as the travel expert, partner, confidant, and supporter that helps female travelers feel empowered to travel individually, with friends, loved ones, without boundaries. I hope in the eyes of those I work with and touch day in and day out, they feel supported and encouraged as many do reading those travel books while discovering the world. This may sound small in scale for making history in travel, but that history is made in that it makes a world of difference to each and every individual touched and inspired by my agency.

  • How do you want to be remembered as a woman in the travel industry making history?

    • BRITTANI: I want to be remembered as a dynamic traveler and an invaluable resource. It is important to me that I experience the world in all ways—as a tourist, a wanderer, and a neighbor. I want to be remembered as a woman who found fulfillment on and off the beaten path and embraced the similarities as well as the differences. It’s in the combination of both that we truly find what we’re looking for. It's all of it for me.

  • How has your nominee INSPIRED YOU?

  • ALYSHA: She has inspired me to follow my dreams and my passion. She has been a great role model and a reminder to not just stick with what’s safe or comfortable, but with what will truly make you happy. She has shown an immense amount of strength and perseverance during this tough time.

Alisha resides in the Washington, DC metropolitan area. She graduated with a B.A. in Fashion Merchandising and decided to start her own boutique. When she's not traveling, she enjoys learning new recipes and learning languages. Alisha is currently studying Italian, Turkish, and soon German. Eternal was created for travelers, by travelers because, they, too, live that never-ending on-the-go lifestyle. From budget trips to solo travel to luxury resorts, they've come to know which products you’ll need to make your next journey both effortless and exciting.

How do you want to be remembered as a woman in the travel industry making history?

      • ALISHA: I’d like to be remembered as someone who didn’t let fear of the unknown prevent her from going beyond her comfort zone. I started traveling and visiting new places at a young age. When I was in college, I got to explore more and on my own but on a college kid’s budget. Some saw it as daring but some also saw it as inspirational being able to work hard for the life I wanted to live and that’s how I’d like to be remembered—by showing others you don’t have to spend loads of money to see the world.
